World Toilet Day, A Week Ago

I’ve been thinking about this World Toilet Day thing…both while sitting there, and otherwise…

it’s celebrated every 19 November…

and thinking about this short podcast from last week, on the topic therein…

it comes to mind, rather than the angle the podcast took, I thought it was going to be different…

I thought they were going to talk about how many people in the world don’t have access to toilets…

about how much illness could be reduced by more people having a toilet to use on a daily basis…

about the roughly 4.2 billion people that don’t have living conditions that include safe sanitation…

about the more than 400 million people that poop outside in the open…

about the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6…

but oh no, as usual, NPR did me one better…

They did a podcast about making  a toilet surface that makes it easier for the flushed water to clean the bowl, and thus use less water.

GENIUS.

More toilets needed in the world, and saving water along the way…

This making the world a better place to live, sustainable along the way.

Maybe that’s a cause worth thinking about on 19 November, a week later, and everyday, to improve the situation around the world.

That would be GOOD.

And now, here’s the podcast:
