Passion Play

Bloganuary Prompt : “What’s your dream job?”

I used to think the life goal had to be finding a job that was infused with whatever your passion is.

Decades into my life, I’ve realized the paramount, most important thing, is to identify and pursue your passion; don’t get stuck trying to get paid to do it.

As the Nike motto goes,

JUST DO IT.

Obviously you have to be an adult, provide for yourself and your family, pay the bills. Do that of course.

But, BUT, also carve out time in your days, weeks, months, years to also develop and pursue your passion.

The Dream Job in my view is whatever allows you to also pursue your passion. Even if your job isn’t the passion itself, if it allows to also engage regularly in that passion, well, that’s a “dream job.”

Even bits of time doing what you love is worth cultivating; and over time you’ll get better at finding, creating that time for passion work.

And one last thing about the Dream Job. If it provides for you and your family, and allows you to also pursue your passion, you win.

And bonus? If you like the people you work with? If you continue to learn and grow as a human along the way?

Well hell, all the better!
