And now, something a little different.
There’s a lot of this and that I could ramble on about with respect to surprise issues and struggles I’ve had with colleagues.
In more than three decades in the workforce, I’ve had a few times, surprising reactions to co-workers and how they do their thing. I catches me off-guard; and pisses me off. Not about them, but about me.
I strive incessantly to be accepting and open-minded and collaborative. And when I’m not? I don’t like that version of me.
So this little lesson for me to myself, maybe worth you considering too,
When you find your thoughts, attitudes, perspective declining to a darker, more critical, less patient place…
Catch Yourself, Check Yourself, Pause, Reset.
Your assessment of the situation, the other person, may very well be spot-on, accurate; then again, it may not be so. Main thing, focus on how to improve the situation.
Stop the complaining (in your mind or otherwise).
Decide what positive steps can be taken.
And then make it GOOD.
