Ever Adjusting

As all parents come to understand, you never stop learning about you children, about human nature, personality development, maturation to adulthood.

Through all our kids’ experiences and struggles and learnings we come to understand that adapting and adjusting are cornerstones of a successful human experience.

Ever adjusting,

Like when your son is diagnosed with autism in November, and epilepsy in March,

Like when he starts a new grade at a new school, with new expectations and new challenges,

Like when his night seizures can’t seem to come under control with medication, and then he has repeated episodes at school one Friday morning and he ends up in the hospital, and it takes heavy doses of four medications to stop the seizures,

Like when the neurologist explains that perhaps a blend of two anti-seizure meds will be the next try at successful therapeutic dosing to stop the seizure activity,

Like when your son really wants sausage but he hospital cafeteria has more bacon,

Like when you realize you’re micro-managing, overcompensating for the current circumstances,

Like when you realize these very moments are fleeting, even the really hard ones, and you reset your patience,

You adjust again to what matters most, your kid’s well-being.
