Juxtapose two men, both leaders, seem so far apart,

This day ordained such to remember and celebrate the work of one,

Also a day this year to bestow massive powers on another,

One day that happens every year, inspired, maybe even a little hallowed,

The other day happens every four years, intentional, peaceful transfer of power,

Would that this man empowered today listens to the lessons from MLK, crazy idea that he apply bits maybe to his rule, not hopeful,

Would that those who remember Dr. King and his message and his work and his way, let that inspire us still,

Still true to those principles, ideas he spoke and peacefully fought for,

Let that steel us still for the struggles right now, struggles to come, to hold the ship steady in the stormy seas ahead,

Weather us through the stormy seas ahead.
