Puzzle Play: Humbled, Learned

I’ve not been a fanatic puzzler in my life. I like puzzles fine, and find them a novelty for sure, but I’ve not been much consumed. Until now. Sort of.

Wordle isn’t a new puzzle game, but newer to me. And when a friend invited to a “Wordle Thread”, where you share your results with a small group after you play, I thought “sure”.

There is a new puzzle each day (it’s available from 12:01a), and it’s accessible right on my smart phone via the New York Times Games app. And I play every day. And it’s fun!

But there’s also something else that attracts me.

My maternal grandmother played the crossword everyday for decades. She also seemed to have her wits about her right up to her end at 90 years old.

Not sure I’ll make it to 90 (tho’ if I can stay healthy, I sure hope so), but I want to do what I can to extended my mental and physical health. Experts say playing word puzzles can help one’s mental acuity by exercising the brain.

And so playing Wordle is good in my view, even if I sometimes can’t figure out and get stumped.

Humbled? Healthy. Learned? GOOD.
