One More Stop For Mom

Out and about,

Dropped off the kids to their mom’s house,

Need to see my mom too,

Santa Clara Memorial Park, the non-denominational cemetery in Santa Clara.

My parents remains rest in the niche affixed to the outside of a mausoleum wall, a few feet from the center, halfway up. My mom passed on last year, and her ashes joined my dad’s that were interned there eight years back.

Funny we humans, some of us, choose to visit graves as a way to remember whomever is interned there; not everyone has this sometimes practice. But there are a few.

For sure I feel somehow a little closer to my mom and my dad too when I visit the niche.

I don’t stay long usually; just a bit of time for a quick visit and reflection. And then I’m on my way. Feeling a little better somehow.

I’ll be back again before too long.
