My kids had me watching a drag queen show the other evening,

Quite the cultural experience, learned quite a bit, no drag history in my family, closest I’d come was seeing “Beach Blanket Babylon” in San Francisco 30 years back.

The TV show features RuPaul Andre Charles, considered the world’s must successful drag queen. The show series has been running near 20 years in several variations; and it’s not just produced here in the US; there is a UK version as well. RuPaul has received several accolades, including Tony & Emmy Awards for his work.

One main segment of the show had the queens dance and sing to a Fosse number; didn’t know of Bob Fosse until the other night. I learned he was arguably the lost influential figure in jazz dance over the last century. A dancer, choreographer, director, and producer, he has many performance accolades to his name, including multiple Emmy, Tony, and one Academy award.

So much I didn’t know. WOW.

Good lesson once again.
