Tomorrow

“Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow, Creeps in this petty pace from day to day,
To the last syllable of recorded time;

And all our yesterdays have lighted fools, The way to dusty death. Out, out, brief candle!


Life’s but a walking shadow, a poor player,That struts and frets his hour upon the stage,
And then is heard no more.

This from William Shakespeare’s classic play, “The Tragedy of Macbeth”, first performed circa 1606.

This soliloquy learned and forgotten, then remembered in part from high school English, these words,

They returns to me in part repeatedly these last forty years, expressing a woe that returns to me repeatedly over these same forty years …

A woe I cannot shake for good but must resolve to live with,

I cannot explain why, only that it is.

Forever looking to tomorrow, until there is no more.
