This post is by a dear old friend from high school. Her name is Bethany Purdy and she is an amazing human being with an inspiring life perspective.

Well I’ve done a bit more than Georgia here but it has been a very different year without Mom (and Dad) around. I’ve honestly been somewhat lost.

I’ve been steadily working on unpacking the truckload of treasures I inherited from the folks/house. It’s the ones that contain a shirt that smells like Pop or his workshop tools or the books that carry the memory of walking into the house and seeing Mom’s tons of books all categorized like a library just before turning the hallway corner and seeing her in the kitchen at the stovetop making something delicious or at her desk frowning at her phone as she voice texts one of the family. (Hehe)

It’s hard to believe it’s almost been a year -there hasn’t been a day that I haven’t shed a tear missing one or the other and both of them.

But..There are great things too. While finding solace in solitude, I’ve become very focused on building the ‘Purdy’s Art’ business and have also continued to be lucky enough to spend time with my kids and sweet pea Grandson. They are so awesome and I seriously love them more every day.

Also, been working on planning trips to see the sibs and if nothing else, to just hold each other close and maybe laugh together and drink coffee or wine and share a meal and memories while we build new ones.

Life is really good and I was so lucky we had Mom And Dad as long as we did and to be able to call them two of my closest friends. Their story is beautiful.

I think the key is definitely to positively move forward and not just to be my ‘old’ self but to integrate all the life lessons and memories that I got from Mom, Dad and Cornell Drive, and harness that love, intelligence and grit and just enjoy every day.
