The unpainted Patch, actually there’s more than one of these patches underneath the front counter of my kitchen, primer in faded relief to the painted wall,

From a couple decades ago, a new kitchen floor installed, touch-up needed, never completed,

“Oh sure, I’ll take care of that”, I said at the time,

All this time later still there, unpainted patches on the wall, low by the baseboard, not so noticeable but completely memorable for me,

Life too busy and too many things more important, a lifetime nearly it seems, indicator of more pressing matters,

So many memories created, life lived before the unpainted patches, how much longer before I touch those up, paint over,

One day, one day.
