I must definitely say — and I’m not proud of me in this way but — like the hairs on my head and the whiskers on my chin, I am gray…
And a bit more to the point, I’m morally gray.
Just what does that mean?
It means sometimes I choose the easier path, sometimes I choose the lazy, the opportunistic, maybe a little irresponsible, rather than the straight and narrow and true.
I think overall, when my light finally dims to dark and things are weighed out, the scale will tip for me to the side of loved and cared, and tried to do good in the world; I sure hope so.
But that won’t mean that every day or moment in every decision, did I made the right choice; no no. And I guess that’s what I mean by morally gray.
Most of life, it’s not black-and-white. It’s gray.
Just like my chin whiskers.
