Can’t Versus Won’t

The idea of “can’t” , versus “won’t”, on my mind a lot as a parent, for my kids, and even me as an adult,

Ability juxtaposed to Choice,

Rick Rubin, renown, music producer, executive, and creative guru, one of his mantras he talks about is,… “Don’t say I can’t… Say I haven’t yet… “,

The idea that most everything takes effort, and time and practice and trial and error, to improve, to get better at the craft, the thing, to see what you can really make of it, whatever it is.

The fundamental thing I think about is deciding what matters most for me, most important in the life I have left on this earth, and focus on those things, obsess about those things, and go deep,

Choose to do. Choose to give it a go. Don’t say “can’t”, if you can help it.

Mantra I sometimes repeat: Make the most of every day, week, month, for myself, work to not squander, and encourage, motivate my kids to do the same.

And really everyone around me.
