One lane reset, that’s my strategy after a sneaky bumpy morning with my kids. Just what is a one lane reset?, You might ask…
I’ll tell you.
Every work morning, I primarily drive on one particular freeway, the infamous 101 that runs the length of the West Coast of the United States. My little sliver, segment, it’s about a 17 mile stretch from San Jose to Menlo Park. It’s very very busy. Thousands of cars every morning. And they all seem to wanna go in the same direction.
The one lane reset is settling in to one lane for the entire drive. This plan in place, Baard, any accidents or other vehicle issues that forced me to change lanes. But the one lane reset will otherwise have me in lane three the whole way. It’s forcing myself to adjust to the traffic rather than trying and incrementally improve my position (which probably doesn’t do much most of the time).
So that’s the one lane reset, settling in, settling my mind, settling my emotions, and effort to arrive and be as productive as I can at work today. I hope the kids have a productive day too, even after the bumpy start.
