I think pretty often about how important it is to get out of your comfort zone.
And honestly I do think it’s important. I work to instill that willingness in my kids. I talk about how important it is to cope with the unexpected too.
Why?
Because dealing with the unexpected often involves going beyond your comfort zone.
The nature of life I think has this circumstance woven continuously throughout. So why not build that skill, strengthen that “coping muscle”?
You’ll always be better off responding favorably to the unexpected.
Examples abound in my mind.
Here’s one from the real world the bubbles to the top.
I recently played softball for the first time in…a really looooooooooooong time.
I was nervous about my body would respond; about not embarrassing my myself in from of my peers; about staying up late on a work night (the game started around 9pm, my typical bed time!)…but…whatever…
In life, you gotta get outta your comfort zone…you’re gonna get pushed out often times,
So you might as well make it good…GOOD.
