A theme visited before on this blog…but since Lions Work — helping others — never ends, another installment, if you please…

Helped with some loading / unloading today of tables and chairs for a charity event, one our club has supported for a few years, since it’s inception. It was maybe three hours work total, including travel. No biggie.

The two Lions I worked with are in their 80’s. They could easily NOT be volunteering; but they do. They did. I love that; and love the banter that ensues, seeing them.

Their involvement, along with the Lions at the event itself (also very senior members of our club), exemplifies the underlying value of Lionism. Volunteer / charity work is great, for sure. But it’s the FELLOWSHIP that sets Lions Work apart from other volunteer work. These guys wanted to see each other. I wanted to see them.

So SO GOOD.
