62 Years

My parents” wedding anniversary, 16 December 1961. Were my dad still alive, it would be 62 years married. ‘Til death did they part.

And a good buddy, one of my oldest friends, he and his bride married that same day in 1989. They’re still together. Four grown daughters, and decades together.

I’ve got several good friends that have been married for decades; I admire them.

I’ve tried twice, but neither marriage held. Each marriage was about a dozen years. As always, plenty of reasons why they didn’t work out; not important in this moment.

My intent with this brief homage is to express my respect for all couples who have made marriage work, and my belief that it’s a condition worth pursuing.

So for my parents, my friends, for all those who live or have lived in that way,

Bravo!, I say, BRAVO! It’s worth a try; more than one, even.

WE’RE BETTER TOGETHER.
