Maybe add a few more, in case one or two get lost.

Consider the field engineer not being able to complete the work because they were one screw short.

What’s best practice? Maybe the engineer who designed the kit already added a few extra to the bill of materials.

Either way,

Better safe than sorry.

And by bonus type? Always have the part number physically on the part or at minimum, the bag the parts are in…at least on the bag if it’s tiny nuts, screws, washers.
