Been practicing the Metta / Maitrī for a bit,
“May I be filled with loving kindness…”, etc.,
And it’s helped me to calm as I start the day,
It’s also come up when I’m irked about something in the moment,
Like that car driving to slow, who’s this impeding my optimal pace,
Or my daughter’s soccer coach who kept the team 30 minutes over time at practice (for full recreational, not at all crazy soccer league),
Or peeps at work that don’t seem to feel the sense of urgency I feel about this or that thing,
Or my other daughter not eating dinner,
…you get the idea,
That first line is the key,
Striving for loving kindness,
The essence indeed,
Pulling in Christian Holy Week, It’s the same fundamental teaching that Jesus gave us,
Love God,
Love one another,
That’s it.
Rubber, road, and loving kindness,
Amen amen,
And GOOD.
