A book recently published by an amazing radio and print journalist and NPR host, Steve Inskeep, goes by this name,

“Differ We Must”,

I’ve only just started reading it. It’s about Abraham Lincoln’s approach to our divided country in the midst of civil war 160 years ago.

As I think about our country today, we need people with the perspectives and approach to leading and governing that can bring us through this polarized, acrimonious time; we are in deep divide, and need to be lead out.

But more than that, we need leaders to model the balanced change needed to cope with these dynamic and difficult times.

Differ we must; and hope we must too; for compromise and collaboration.
