Daily Prompt: “Share a story about the furthest you’ve ever traveled from home.”
Twenty years back, I had the chance to visit China. A buddy was going to meet up with his high school chum, and I got to go along.
I’d visited the Soviet Union / Russia three times at that point; I figured I could handle China.
I had no idea.
Mind you, we did fine, the trip was a great success. In addition to Beijing, we had a few days in Guilin / Yangshuo in the southeast; and a camping trip along remnants of The Great Wall, further west out of Beijing.
We camped on the northern side one night; technically in Mongolia, I believe.
It was the trip of a lifetime: eye-opening, insightful, a great adventure, as we traveled on the other side of the world.
I remain grateful to this day for the chance to see a bit of The Middle Kingdom.
