An Impassioned Plea

Pope Francis is like no other pope I’ve witnessed in my lifetime.

Of course, part of it is that he has access to technology no prior pope had access to. That said, especially for an 87 year old dude. The following are posts he has recently made on the X platform (previously Twitter), the tone and message is clear, impassioned, and inspiring … I humbly offer ~

Regarding homelessness,

“So many people spend their lives accumulating possessions, concerned only about their own wellbeing and not the good they can do. Yet, our life is empty when it is centred on our own needs and we blind ourselves to the needs of others! #WorldHomelessDay

Regarding nations struggling to sovereignty,

In the Middle East,

“All nations have the right to exist in peace and security. Their territories must not be attacked, and their sovereignty must be respected and guaranteed through peace and dialogue. War and hatred bring only death and destruction for everyone. #Peace “,

“I call for an immediate ceasefire in all theatres of conflict in the Middle East, including Lebanon. Let us #PrayTogether for the Lebanese people, especially for residents in the south who have been forced to flee their homes. May they soon be able to return and live in #Peace.”

“I appeal to the international community to work to end the spiral of revenge in the Middle East and prevent further attacks that could force the region into an even greater war. #Peace

” I continue to follow events in the Middle East with concern. I once again call for an immediate ceasefire on all fronts. The paths of diplomacy and dialogue must be pursued to achieve peace.”

“I am close to all the populations involved, in Palestine, Israel and Lebanon, where I ask the United Nations peacekeeping forces to be respected.”

In Ukraine,

“I appeal for Ukrainians not to be left to die of cold, and that air attacks on the civilian population must cease, as they are always the most affected. Stop killing innocent people!”

In Haiti,

“I follow the dramatic situation in Haiti, where violence against people continues, forcing them to flee their homes in search of safety elsewhere, both within and outside the country. Let us never forget our Haitian brothers and sisters.”

To all humanity,

Brothers and sisters, war is an illusion. It is a defeat, and it will never bring peace or security. War is a defeat for everyone, especially those who believe themselves to be invincible. Stop, please!

Amen, AMEN.
