Quite the lark, quite the spark, lasted a couple days anyway,

A buddy recently brought up the 80’s heavy metal album, “Last In Line”, by the band Dio, on a text thread,

Ronnie James Dio,

That comment unleashed a fast torrent of Wiki-reading…adding depth to the music I was already familiar with from decades earlier,

Indeed, Dio was a true rock star…starting from his own band, Elf, to Black Sabbath, to Rainbow, then again his own gig with Dio, and finally Heaven & Hell…

So much power and depth and texture in his vocal, similarly soul-grabbing music, and the imagery of the songs…magical, if sometimes also dark…

Fast forward to the park of the present, to current YouTube vocal commentaries, both accomplished, female vocalists in Opera and the like, they both sang praises to Dio as well (pun intended)…

He was one of the best of his era, and maybe in the genre overall,
