Wikipedia attributes this practice to police training; I heard the term listening to two retired Navy SEALS talk about their training on a podcast.
Just what does it mean,
“Immediate Action Drill” ?
Prepare in advance, so when quick actions are needed they can be executed with expediency and accuracy.
Prepare for many scenarios, so actions are fluid, reflexive, and with minimal hesitation.
“ The more you sweat in training, the less you bleed in combat. “
All well and good, but I think this concept and practice is helpful not only in police and military training,
Preparing for unforeseen and/or unexpected circumstances makes sense across many activities in work, in parenting, in life.
Be ready.
GOOD.
