Missing Dierks

Had a plan to see Dierks Bentley last night with a work buddy at a popular amphitheater nearby. We were going to head to the show around 6pm.

I didn’t make it.

Just before 5 PM, I got a call from the house manager at the boarding Care home where my mom lives. My mom wanted to see me.

She has been slowing down considerably since a fall a couple months back. She’s also 87 and a 29 year stroke veteran.

Just before that call, I had also gotten a phone call from a hospice nurse, letting me know my mom‘s blood pressure was really low, and though she seemed comfortable, she definitely was being affected.

So after talking to the house manager, I made a quick decision. I called my buddy and said I wasn’t gonna be able to make the show, felt really bad, but had to be there for my mom.

When I visit her and spend time through the evening, she seemed to perk up a little bit, but I think that’s only for the moment, for sure she’s headed down the final path, which is fine. Give it everything she’s been through, the full life she’s lived.

But I missed Dierks, and a good time with a fun coworker . Oh well, family first, loved ones first, good times and good music will be had down the road again for sure.

Hope you come around again, Dierks ~
