The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) was born out of the most destructive and all-encompassing conflicts of the modern era, World War II.
Coming out of that global conflict more than 70 million people had been killed, and the age of nuclear weapons had begun. NATO has helped to keep the world a safer place since its inception.
Now in 2026, with technology racing forward, security not only rests on the stability of global society, but ensuring that nuclear weapon technology is controlled and threats, managed in a comprehensive cooperative manner. The danger is not only with nation states now, but also with rogue actors, “terrorist organizations”, and the like.
Also, global stability allows the global society to develop and nurture new avenues to help more people around the world, to find new opportunity for a better quality of life. Security and stability provide the foundation for that path forward. NATO helps to provide that foundation.
