What do you do to improve your sleep?
Such a great topic, the topic of sleep. Sweet sleep, I love you so! I’ve always enjoyed sleeping, napping, dozing, cat naps,
But long hours of restorative sleep, yes indeed, that’s the very best for me, I’m a believer, here are some of my bits picked up from reading suggestions and studies over many years,
Darkened environ in the hours before bedtime,
Quiet classical music, no words,
Cooler room, but comfy, loosely dressed, cozy,
Then, to bed! Modest bedclothes, goal to maintain a middle body temp, warm enough but not to overheat, one sheet, a comforter, that’s it usually,
I like two pillows, one regular, one smaller, to adjust as needed to keep my spine aligned when I’m on my side; side sleeping is my favorite.
And the actual “practice of sleep”, once you’ve committed, stay in the space, stay within your mind, keep your eyes closed, clear your mind (it might take a while), commit and stay in the moment, control your thoughts, relax your body,
Practice makes perfect, even with sleep!
