Proximity means how close one object person or thing otherwise is close to another person object or thing otherwise.

In the particular context on my mind recently, it’s how people want to be close to the remains of their loved ones sometimes when they are remembering them. It’s curious.

I visit the memorial park where my parents ashes have been interned pretty regularly. It’s just down the street from my house, so very convenient, and it’s peaceful and comforting for a variety of reasons.

In my experience, it’s not just about going to a particular place intentionally to remember, because of course, we can remember anywhere,

But it’s the peacefulness of this place, and the history, and all the life stories swirling around, this old place in my old hometown, 250 years and counting…

Remembering my folks, thinking about them, and all the lives, it’s inspiring and grounding and powerful, quietly powerful … proximity is,

GOOD.
