Some people have it, other people don’t seem to. It’s a curious thing. I’m not sure how that happens.

Am I the only person who finds this interesting…and even a bit difficult to comprehend? Perhaps because I have the gene, it seems obvious to me, but not to everyone.

For better or worse there is a straight line for me from our shared humanity to the motivation to lend a hand to those in need when I can.

Ha, but even as I just wrote those words I think to myself, “…you don’t *always* help others…there are plenty of times when I walk by someone pan-handling on the sidewalk or road median…”,

I suppose maybe it’s a continuum, when opportunity meets mood and motivation. Maybe it’s not a question only of whether one has the gene, but also how dominant that gene is in your genome.
