Really this post is more, “a dad’s list in pictures.” I was super lucky a couple weeks back: I took the day off to go with my younger daughter and her class to the pumpkin patch. It was the best of both worlds. I got to be with my daughter, but also see her in …

There's been this news story of late about the law suit against Harvard. The basics indicate the suit is on the side of Asian-Americans. Really though, it's an effort the challenge Affirmative Action. Two of my great joys: Living where I live. Working where I work. People from Germany, Russia, India, Peru, Mexico, China, the Philippines, Vietnam, …
A special place, Nothing fancy, Just quiet and peaceful, simple joys. And healing, soul time, pace slows to crawl, hours melt away, sunrise, sunset, little in between. Walk the path down to the beach, walk the beach, return the same way up the path. Recollections, stories shared, and troubles, and learning, and successes, solutions, milestones, …
I pray God, I pray that the sun will not set forever, that this is not the last one, that I have more time. And in that prayer is the instruction: Do what’s right today; Learn today; Love today.
This passage from Luke, chapter 13, resonates. Don’t give up; try again; there is still hope; take action with care, try a different approach, Good can still result. Yes. Yes it can. And he told them this parable: "There once was a person who had a fig tree planted in his orchard, and when he …

It's a destination I've been visiting off and on for the better part of 20 years (I love that phrase, …
There's this song I memorized a long time back. I've sang it a thousand times if not a once. It still makes me smile. And it still makes me hungry. Thank You, Jimmy Buffett! I've got an annual trip coming up with a few good friends from college. We've gotten together every year for the better part of 20 years, to catch-up, enjoy the coast, and generally ground ourselves. It's a great time, and I feel super-blessed every year I get the chance to be with these guys. And …
Another lesson from my grandma comes to mind frequently. Why? Because I find myself oft repeating the phrase to my kids. Mind you, they're little kids, so I'm pretty sure they don't understand the context. That said, I use the words regularly: "Patience is a virtue." Not sure whether grandma got it from the epic …
